Earl Leroy Klineyoung

YORK- Earl L. Klineyoung, 81, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 14, 2009. He was the loving husband of Emma J. (Ball) Klineyoung, to whom he was married for 57 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. S. Philip Covert officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Full military rites will be provided by the York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Mr. Klineyoung was born April 12, 1928, in Hopewell, PA, a son of the late Harry R. and Clara E. (Miller) Klineyoung. He was a 1946 graduate of New Freedom High School. As a player on the high school baseball team, he won the York County Scholastic Baseball League Title in 1944. He worked as an electrician both residential and commercial, serving as an apprentice for Gettle Electric and later working for IBEW Local 229 until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Klineyoung served our country for six years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Earl was also a member of the Jewish Community Center, 13th Ward Republican Club, 9th Ward Club, and the Local 229 IBEW Retirees. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid sports fan. Along with his wife Emma, Mr. Klineyoung is survived by a son, Ronald E. Klineyoung of York; two daughters, Debra N. Ross and husband, David of Pittsburgh and Diane S. Markey and husband, Brad of York; four grandchildren, Abigail, Erin, Nathan and Garrett; one brother, Donald Klineyoung; three sisters, Mildred Klineyoung, Doris Winand, and Francis Houston; and a beloved dog, Muffin. Preceding him in death was a brother, Harold Klineyoung; and a sister, Mary Klineyoung. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/ Hospice Services, 218 E. Market St., York, Pa 17403 or the American Lung Association of Pa, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, Pa. 17011.
