SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Earl C. Meyer, Sr., 85, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday January 13th at Rest Haven Nursing Home, after a year long struggle with advanced Parkinson's Disease. He was born in 1923 and was the son of the late Charolotte H. Meyer. At the age of 19, he served in World War II, with the Army as a member of the 710 Tank Battalion in the Pacific where he fought in the pivotal American Victory at Peleliu. Mr. Meyer worked as a heating and plumbing mechanic for V&E sales and service in Schuylkill Haven for more than 20 years. He retired from Losch Plumbing and Heating who purchased V&E in the late 1970's. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. He was married to his first wife, the late Eleanor J. (Trabosh) Meyer for 30 years. They had two sons, Earl C. Meyer, Jr., who currently lives in Bensalem, PA and Gary J. Meyer, who resides in Lancaster, PA. He has four granddaughters, Elizabeth I. Sullivan, Cynthia M. Meyer, Callie H. Meyer and Chelsea Rose Meyer and one great granddaughter, Victoria E. Sullivan. Mr. Meyer remarried in 1983 and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Meyer, who lives in Pottsville and does volunteer work at Rest Haven, where Mr. Meyer was a patient for the past year. Funeral services will be private, held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private in the Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville.
