MATLACHA, FL- E. Paul Hoover, 83, formerly of York, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 at Hospice House in Cape Coral, FL. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Barnhart) Hoover. The couple celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary on May 11, 2008. A Graveside Service will be 1 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. A funeral procession will form at the Pennsylvania Ave. gate of the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Hoover was born in York on May 2, 1925, a son of the late Elvin and Susan B. (Shade) Hoover. He Owned and Operated Hoover-Wilbert Burial Vault Company in York from 1962-1991, when he retired. He was Commander of the York Power Squadron from 1973-1974 and was a member of Red Lion Elk Club and the Pine Island Moose Lodge. He was a past member of both the Pine Island VFW and American Legion. He served in the US Army Air Corps. as an Aerial Gunner in WWII from 1943-46. Mr. Hoover leaves a daughter, Vickie Miller and her husband William of Spring Grove; a son Michael P. Hoover and his wife Linda of Mt. Wolf; two step children, Tara E. Erdenbrack and her husband Dave of York and Todd E. Stambaugh and his wife Jeannette of York; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A son, Robert Malone had preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House Cape Coral, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
