York— William R. Eddins, Jr, PhD., passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Karen M. (Boginski) Eddins to whom he was married for 38 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7 PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Kasie Watkins officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born January 21, 1952 in Oceanside, CA, he was a son the late William R. Eddins, Sr., and Eileen C. (Smith) Eddins. After graduating high school, Dr. Eddins went on to earn his B.A. from the University of the South in 1975. In 1978 he received his first Master’s Degree in Public Administration and short time later in 1984 he earned his second Master’s Degree in Information Systems, both from Auburn University. Finally in 1993, he earned his PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Eddins was a York College Professor at the Graham School of Business for the past 32 years, where he taught courses in project management, information security/ethics, web development, management information systems and development fundamentals. Bill was a beloved member of the community. He was a member of the Faculty Benefits Committee at York College, Chairman of the Instructional Resources Committee at York College from 2005 – 2008 and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the York Educational Federal Credit Union. Bill was also a former member of the Lion’s Club and former advisor for the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity. An enthusiastic professor who taught with conviction, he was completely devoted to his students. Bill loved his family, spending time with friends, riding the rail trail and walking in the York Township Park. Most of all, Bill’s proudest achievement were his three cherished daughters, three granddaughters and one unborn grandson. In addition to his wife, Dr. Eddins is also survived by three daughters, Sarah A. Blasser and her husband, Brett of York, Maria E. Hamilton and her husband, Shane of York and Kristen E. Eddins of York; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Estella, and Julia; two sisters, Darcel Eddins and Denise Freeman, both of Ashville, NC and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Brian and Bradley Eddins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dr. William R. Eddins Jr Scholarship Fund, C/O York Educational Federal Credit Union, 1601 S. Queen Street, York, Pa 17403
