Dr. Tripuresh Chandra Bhattacharjee

YORK- Dr. Tripuresh Bhattacharjee, affectionately called Dadu by his family, left our world at 3:30am on Friday January 15, 2016 at the incredible age of 100. His tribute services will be held at 12 noon on Monday January 18, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Dr. Bhattacharjee was born in Faridpur, Bangladesh in 1916. In the 1940’s, he endured the swift and painful escape from their estate in Bangladesh to an unknown future in India. Seeing his extended family in dire straits, he took them under his wing and helped them to a peaceful and stable future. He was a physician in the Indian military during World War II. After discharge, he was an Indian government doctor until his retirement in 1971. He and his wife migrated to the US in 1993, after his two children Syamal and Kumkum were settled here. He was a pious man who became a Hindu priest for many local Hindu celebrations after arriving in the US. He was very knowledgeable in the Hindu scriptures and educated all of those around him in how to live a good life with God as the center. He endured many challenges including the passing of his only daughter in 2009 and his wife in 2013. Despite this, his smile uplifted everyone around him, from his great grand kids to the neighbor next door. He was an amazing man, an inspiration to all. He was very warm, generous, intelligent, simple and spiritual. He was a friend to all.He will be greatly missed as he ascends to the spiritual heavens and enjoys spiritual bliss. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, who are York residents, one son-in-law, 3 grand sons and their wives, and one grand daughter and her husband. He also had 3 great grand daughters and one great grand son. As his 6 year old great granddaughter from Kansas said after his passing, “He was the best Boro Dadu [great grandfather] in the whole wide world. We loved him so much, even after he passed away. He was a very good and peaceful man.”
