Dr. Rafail P. Yankelevich

YORK- Dr. Rafail P. “Rafa” Yankelevich, 80, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Dallastown Nursing Center. Dr. Yankelevich was born in Kharkov, Ukraine on October 29, 1939, the son of the late Peter Yankelevich and Larissa Yankelevich (Zuravskaya). He retired from 21st Century Oncology in New York, where he was a medical physicist. He received his PHD in Low Temperature Physics and was American Board of Radiology certified. Dr. Yankelevich was a member of ASTRO, American Society for Radiation Oncology and AAPM, American Association Physicists in Medicine. Throughout his life, he enjoyed gymnastics, skiing, Tennis, jazz music, and world travel. He was also fond of playing checkers with his granddaughter. Dr. Yankelevich leaves a son, Stanislav Yann of Carlisle, a granddaughter, Lilianna Yann of Lemoyne, and a caregiver and friend, J. Barbara Wojcicka. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Yankelevich. Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
