Dr. Linda C. Smith

Margate, NJ—Dr. Linda C. Smith, 60, died Friday, August 21, 2015 in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born November 4, 1954 in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Richard N. and Joan G. (Peters) Smith. Following her Red Lion Area High School graduation in 1972, she earned an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Temple University. She later graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and received a PhD from Rutgers University. Dr. Smith was employed as an Assoc. Professor with Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey for the past 16 years and was a member of the PA Organic Assoc. Linda was known for her passion for the environment and preserving farm land, especially the family farm where she took great pride to be able to offer organic produce to the community. Her family, friends, pets and teaching were very dear to her heart. She is survived by her brother, Stephen B. Smith and his wife, Roberta of Hummelstown; one niece, Stephanie Smith and her husband Danny Brockman and their children, Autumn and Dylan Brockman; one nephew, Andrew Smith and his companion, Caitlin Frame and their son, Linus Framesmith. She is also survived by aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
