YORK - Douglas Stevens Patton, 45, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007. He was the husband of Jessica (Karns) Patton whom he married on September 24, 2005. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating at the service will be the pastor that married Doug and Jessica, the Rev. William Kisner, pastor of the Everett Church of God, Everett, PA. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Doug was born August 4, 1962, in York. He was the son of Dr. Donald R. and Deanna M. (Eyler) Patton of Red Lion. He was the Assistant Director of Operations with Traffax of Harrisburg where he worked for the past 16 years. Doug was well known throughout the greater York, Harrisburg, Lancaster and Gettysburg areas for his morning traffic reports and his "And that's where the cars are" sign off will leave a void in the morning commute. Doug was a 1981 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and later attended York College as a communications major where he began his broadcast career on the college's radio station. He had also worked as a DJ for both WOYK and the former Starview 92 radio stations in York. As a child, Doug attended Grace Lutheran Church in Red Lion. He deeply loved his wife, his family, his pets, his Harley and all types of music. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife and parents, Doug also leaves a daughter, Jessica Marie Patton of York; a granddaughter, Levaeh; a sister, Christina Elizabeth Koch and husband, Adam of Dallastown; and nephews, Miles, Quinn and Graham Koch of Dallastown and Jarret Karns of Bedford; his mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Kirk Karns of Everett; and his grandparents-in-law, Wilbert and Shirley Karns and Margaret Stufft, all of New Paris. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Godfrey and Clara Hoffman of Red Lion and Kramer and Catherine Eyler of York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Douglas Stevens Patton Memorial Fund in care of Commerce Bank, 3109 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
