Wellsburg, NY - Douglas F. "PA' "Squeaky" Roberts Age 85, of Main Street, Wellsburg, NY passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Bethany Manor following a lengthy illness. Doug was born May 26, 1924 in North Chemung, NY son of the late James H. and Gladys Roseback Roberts. Following graduation from high school Doug served four years with the US Army during WW II. Prior to retirement he was employed by the Elmira City School District and later by American Bridge Works. His memberships included the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154, Sayre Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Breesport North Chemung Masonic Lodge with over 65 years of membership. He was married to his wife Bernadette McCormick Roberts on February 1, 1968. Survivors include his loving wife Bernadette Roberts of Wellsburg, NY, son, G. Michael Roberts of Riverdale, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Pierson of Wellsburg, NY, stepsons, Alfred and Nettie Sickler of Lawton, OK, Paul Howard of Washington, DC, two grandchildren, Shawn and Patti Pierson of Wellsburg, NY, Cory J. Pierson of Elmira, NY, two great-grandchildren, Taylor J. Pierson and Logan E. Pierson of Wellsburg, NY, brothers and sister-in-law, Rodney and Beverly Roberts of Corning, NY, Francis Roberts of Bristol, OK, Sidney Roberts of Pine Valley, NY, brother-in-law, Donald and Lois McCormick of York, PA, special person, Craig Sullivan, Carmenia McHale and Suzie Sullivan all of Towanda, PA, several nieces nephews. He is also survived by neighbors and dear friends, Gail Blanchard, Sharon Peer and Tammy and Charles Little. Doug was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon "Smokey" Roberts, Stanley Roberts, Nathan Roberts, Harry Roberts, sisters-in-law, Erma Roberts, Roma Lee Roberts, Beatrice Roberts, Ruth Roberts, Mary Jane and Donald McCormick, Catherine McCormick, his nephews, Merrill and Kenny Roberts and his faithful canine companion Gigi. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, December 7, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY. Masonic Services will be conducted at 8:30 PM by the Breesport North Chemung F&AM Lodge. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the funeral home with Reverend Mary Ann Bernard Director of Pastoral Care at Bethany Village officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Lowman, NY.
