DOVER – Dorsey W. Hooper, Jr., 70, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Zenola P. (Lewis) Hooper to whom he would have celebrated 49 years of marriage on Nov. 14, 2014. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 1165 E. Prospect St., York with Pastor Ryan Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held from 12-1:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born October 27, 1944 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Henrietta (Cleaver) and Dorsey W. Hooper, Sr., he worked as a transport operator for Trailways Transport, Greyhound, and Consolidated Freightways. Mr. Hooper retired from S&H Trucking, Inc. Dorsey was an active member at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hooper is survived by two sons, Dorsey W. Hooper, III of Dover and Sheldon T. and wife Shawnee Hooper of York; two daughters, Cheryl L. and husband Ogden Dickerson of Dover and Carmelia F. and husband Kenyon Pinder of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Amber and husband Neil, Evandon, Cameron, Symone, Kelci, Maya, Jordyn, and Miranda; a great granddaughter, Talia; a brother, Douglas Hooper of Philadelphia; two sisters, Deborah Hooper and Adrienne Story both of Philadelphia; two sisters in law, Arlethia Wright of Chicago and Barbara Lewis of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Hooper.
