RED LION- Dorothy W. (Walker) Pitzer, 92, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Manor Care-Kingston Court. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth S. Pitzer. A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with her pastor Robert Jacobs officiating. A viewing will be held 12-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in McKendree Cemetery. Mrs. Pitzer was born May 11, 1917 in Shrewsbury, a daughter of the late John E. and Reba L (Rehmeyer) Walker. She was a graduate of Red Lion High School and furthered her education at Temple University and Millersville University where she received a degree in Education. She later worked as a kindergarten teacher for the Baltimore, MD school district. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Bethany United Methodist Church-Felton and also attended McKendree United Methodist Church-Airville. After her retirement, Mrs. Pitzer continued to be involved in children's education by volunteering her time reading to kids through the York County Library System. She will always be remembered by those close to her as a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Pitzer is survived by two sons, Paul E. Pitzer and wife, Brenda L. of Seven Valleys, and John K. Pitzer and wife, JoAnn of Dallastown; a daughter, Patricia A. Germick and husband, Gerald of Red Lion; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and nephew, J. Robert Walker and wife, Judith of FL. She was predeceased by a son, James A. Pitzer; and two brothers, Elmo and Hesse Walker. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Help Fund, York Health Foundation, 912 S.
