Dorothy W. Griffiths

POTTSVILLE- Dorothy W. "Sis" Griffiths, 86, resident of York Terrace Nursing Home, Potttsville, passed away Wednesday morning at the nursing home. Born in Pottsville on March 4, 1923 she was a daughter of the late George and Dorothy Levenberg Walton. She was a 1941 graduate of Pottsville High School. Until retiring she was employed by the Reading Eagle for 19 years and prior to that for the Pottsville Republican for 19 years, as a switchboard operator. She was married to the late Griffydd R Griffiths, who died September 7, 2006. Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She was also a member of the Schuylkill and Carbon Counties Welsh Society. Surviving Dorothy is: a sister, Jessie Schmitthenner, of Dushore, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, with the Reverend Harold Hand officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until time of service. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
