Dorothy S. Tubridy

DALLAS - Dorothy S. Tubridy, 99, formerly of Carlisle Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Mercy Center Skilled Nursing, College Misericordia, Dallas where she was residing. Born in Wilkes-Barre, November 21, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Fred C. and Flossie (Stroh) Bennetto. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre High School, currently Coughlin High School, and Bloomsburg State Normal School. She taught for many years in one room schoolhouses including the Moss School, Sweet Valley. Prior to retirement she taught at Grant Street School in the Wilkes-Barre School District. Mrs. Tubridy was a member of the Wyoming Valley Women's Club, serving on the board for a number of years and a member of the Wilkes-Barre Women of Kiwanis. She was a former member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre where she taught Sunday School for many years and a member of the SARAH group. She was currently a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas. Dorothy's husband of 69 years, Raymond W. Tubridy to whom she was married July 8, 1933, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Helen Bennetto preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Fairchild and son-in-law, Gordon, Shavertown. Funeral services will be held at the family's convenience at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Roger E. Griffith, her pastor officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 PM.
