Dorothy R. (Ickes) Hepler

York—Dorothy R. "Dottie" (Ickes) Hepler, 77, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at York Hospital. She was the wife of James P. Hepler with whom she celebrated 37 years of marriage August 1, 2007. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with her pastor, the Rev. Deborah L. Volker officiating. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Viewings will be Monday, from 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday, from 9-10 a.m., at the funeral chapel. Mrs. Hepler was born June 7, 1930 in York, a daughter of the late Lewis R. and Hannah M. (Weaver) Ickes. She was employed as a Nurse with York Hospital for 36 years, where she worked as Asst. Supervisor of the hospital's operating room. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in York, she was also a member of the Viking Club, Lincoln Fire Company No. 9 Ladies Auxiliary, AARP and alumni of York Hospital School of Nursing. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hepler is also survived by sons, Edward M. Miller of York, James W. Hepler and his wife Theresa J., of York and Eugene M. Hepler and his wife Rose Ann of Lake Havasu City, AZ, daughters, Helen M. Miller-McDermott and her husband George of Philadelphia, Dorothy A. Mylin and her husband Steve of Lancaster, 6 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, Hannah M. Summers of Shiloh, sister-in-law, Dorothy Isacs of York and nieces and nephews.
