Dorothy Mae (Verduin) Bassett

Dorothy Mae (Verduin) Bassett, 91, formerly of Patterson and Ridgewood, NJ passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Edward Bassett, Jr. who passed away on December 14, 2005. Services will be private and at the convenience of Dorothy's family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Dorothy was born on August 29, 1917 in Patterson, NJ, the daughter of the late Jacob and Jackamina (Van Der Linda) Verduin. She was a Ridgewood High School graduate, class of 1936, and was a graduate of the Sherwood Business School. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper, first for the Ridgewood News and later for McNeil's Pharmacy, from where she retired. She was a member of Glenrock Community Church. Dorothy is survived by her son Robert (Sally) Bassett, III of Chapel Hill, NC, and her daughter Dorothy "Dottie" (Henry) Abma of Troy, PA, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her sister Ruth Bresnee.
