Dorothy M. (Hendricks) Shiffer

MONTOURSVILLE - Dorothy M. (Hendricks) Shiffer, 89, of Montoursville, died on Monday, December 20, 2010 at her daughters residence in Montoursville. Dorothy was born on September 16, 1921 in Danville and was the daughter of the late Harvey R. and Adda (Long) Hendricks. She was married to the late Grant J. Shiffer for 50 years before his death on August 3, 1988. She was a former employee of the Milton Shoe Factory for 18 years. Dorothy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Raymond H. and Melinda Shiffer of Muncy, four daughters and three sons-in-law; Nancy L. and Robert Ramer of Northumberland, Ethel M. and Larry Starr of Elimsport, Sarah S. and Francis Smith of White Deer and Dottie M. Jeirles of Montoursville, 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and one brother; Robert Hendricks of St. Johns, Newfoundland. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; Grant Shiffer, Jr., one daughter; Susan Brents, one grandson; Larry Starr, Jr., seven brothers and three sisters. There will be a public visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Virginia Bailey will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
