Dorothy M. (Fitzgerald) Craighead

York—Dorothy M. (Fitzgerald) Craighead, 77, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her residence in Manchester Township. She was the wife of Harry A. Craighead Sr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 AM, Monday, January 13, 2014 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 474 S. Pershing Ave., York with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Aaron Wilford Jr., officiating. A viewing will be held Monday from 10-11 AM, at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 14, 1936 in Nottaway, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Rosa V. (Davis) Fitzgerald. She was employed with the Central Intelligence Agency for several years as an office manager until her retirement. In addition to being a loving, devoted wife and mother, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the church, as well as a part of the missionary ministry and the usher board. She was active with Meals on Wheels, an avid bowler; enjoyed traveling, shopping and various other hobbies. Mrs. Craighead is survived by her husband, Harry A. Craighead, Sr. and three sons: Harry A. Craighead, Jr., his wife, Evelyn; Darryl E. Craighead; and, Dernard K. Craighead, his wife Melissa; three daughters: Arlene C. Patterson; Terri R. Eason, husband Joseph; and, Yolanda C. Johnson, husband David; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, George G. “Pete” Fitzgerald, his wife, Whitney; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Otha Fitzgerald. In lieu of flowers monetary memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 474 S. Pershing Ave, York, PA 17401.
