Dorothy M. "Dot" Mowry

YORK – Dorothy M. (Wise) Mowry, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Donald C. Mowry of York, to whom she was wed for 60 years on May 16.

Born October 9, 1939 in Red Lion, she was a daughter of the late Myrle T. and Alverta M. (Eminheiser) Wise. For most of her working life, Dot worked at Leaders Heights Elementary School cafeteria serving children and as the school cafeteria manager, later retiring in 2001. She was a past member of St. Paul’s Church in Dallastown. Outside of work, Dot enjoyed knitting, word searches, sewing quilts, camping, traveling and singing in the choir at St. Paul’s Church in Dallastown. She was a huge Baltimore Orioles fan and is going to miss watching them this season.

In addition to her husband, Don, she is survived by her three sons, Scott A. Mowry of Ohio, Chad E. Mowry of York, and Kevin L. Mowry of York; one grandchild, Shawn D. Mowry of Mt. Wolf; one brother Dean R. Wise; one sister, Doris V. Dec of Texas; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
