Dorothy M. 'Dori' Johnson

WEST PITTSTON-Dorothy M. “Dori” Johnson, 62, of West Pittston, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born on January 31, 1950 in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Grace Collins Johnson. She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Marywood University. She was employed as a nurse by the Visiting Nurses Association, Edwardsville. She was a devoted and loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her children and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James Johnson, III and Thomas Johnson; sister Mary Cary. Surviving are her sons, Brandon Johnson, Salem, OR; Cameron Johnson, West Pittston; brother, Robert Johnson, Chicago, IL; sisters Elizabeth Bryer, Titusville, FL; Patricia Mehalchick, Wyoming; Joan Johnson, Concrete, WA; Grace Marie Johnson, Scranton and Judith Borkowski, Coco Beach, FL. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca. Anyone attending the mass is asked to go directly to the church.
