Dorothy M. (Byers) Laird

York--Dorothy M. (Byers) Laird, 88, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at York Hospital. She was wife of the late Bruce F. Snelbaker and Kenneth E. Laird. A Celebration of Life Service will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born May 9, 1928 in Wellsville, she was a daughter of the late Glen and Blanch (Zeigler) Byers. She was employed as a store manager with Rutter’s Farm Store for 32 years until her retirement in 1995. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church, she also attended Emanuel Lutheran Church-Freysville. She was a past president and treasurer of Farm Women-Freysville, past treasurer of the Republican Women’s Assoc and former treasurer of the Widow’s Support Group. Mrs. Laird is survived by son, Lee F. Snelbaker of York; two grandchildren, Terry L.Snelbaker and Suzette Y. Shultz; three great grandchildren, Kyle, Katie and Tanner and her dog, Peanut. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glen Snelbaker and an infant son and one sister, Gladys Ness. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 N.
