YORK - Dorothy L. (Routson) Long, 84, of Manchester Twp., died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Rest Haven - York with her sister, Patricia Graybill-D'Ercole, by her side. She was the wife of Benjamin A. Long who died September 23, 2004. A service celebrating Mrs. Long's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with her pastor the Rev. Gary Weaver and her former pastor, the Rev. C. Wesley Willson, officiating. Private burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Long was born January 8, 1924, in Union Bridge, Carroll County, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Marlin H. and Maud E. (Ernst) Routson. She was a sewing machine operator with the former William Bernstein & Son Company retiring in 1982 after 30 years of service and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local 196. She was a member of St. Paul's (Chapel) United Methodist Church in Red Lion; the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 169; the Viking Athletic Association; AARP; and was an auxiliary member of the Shiloh American Legion Post 791. Mrs. Long leaves her sister, Patricia A. Graybill-D'Ercole of Loganville; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Routson and four sisters, Helen Miller, Catherine Shirk, Grace Wurl and Pauline Sommers.
