Dorothy L. Bell

DOVER- Dorothy L. (White) Bell, 89, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was the wife of the late Lloyd H. Bell, to whom she was married to for over 30 years. Born on August 6, 1929 in York County, she was a daughter of the late William John and Nora Mae (Richcrick) White. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Bell and wife, Roxanne, and Douglas Bell and wife Aneta; 8 grandchildren, Timothy Bell and wife, Becky in Pittsburgh, David Bell and wife, Vanessa in Pittsburgh, Duane Bell and husband, Scott in York, Heather Eyster and husband, Rob, in York, Brandon Bell in Philadelphia, Scott Thoman and wife, Kimberly, in York, Adam Bell and wife Kelly, in Phoenixville and Rachel Myers and husband, Matthew in Dover; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great greatgrandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dawn White, and two nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by a son, Donald Bell and wife, Bonnie and a brother, Paul White. Dorothy was a graduate of William Penn High School class of 1947. She worked many years as a secretary for McCory’s Distribution Center before retiring. She was a member of the Pleasureville UM Church, the Lively Ladies McCroy Club and the Shiloh Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 791. She was very active and loved to volunteer her time in the sale of poppies for the veterans and handing out her delicious pumpkin rolls. Dorothy had a great love for animals and was forever committed to her family. She enjoyed playing Sudoku, crocheting, and plastic canvas cross stitching. Dorothy was a generous and humble woman who would give her attention to anyone that needed it. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Pleasureville UM Church, 2606 North Sherman Street, York, PA 17406. A visitation will be from 10-11 AM, prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made on her behalf to either Pleasureville UM Church, Hospice and Community Care through WellSpan, or the SPCA of York.
