YORK Dorothy (Kiser) Worthman, 96, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Colonial Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2220 Roosevelt Ave. Extd., York with Pastor David G. Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Worthman was born August 17, 1910, in Shadeland, Crawford County. She was the daughter of the late Ira J. and Carrie B. (Park) Kiser. She was a 1932 graduate of Thiel College in Greenville, PA and later from the Eaton and Burnett Business College of Baltimore. After seven years with the FDIC, Mrs. Worthman was employed in the office of the Revonah Spinning Mills in Hanover for eight years and for five years, taught in the YMCA Business College in Baltimore. In 1956, she became a training director for Sears, Roebuck and Co. where she retired from in 1974. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Yorktowne Senior Center. She was a volunteer at both the York County Literacy Council and at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Senior Purls Knitting Group and knitted many items for the needy. Mrs. Worthman leaves many friends including Dave and Cathy Krishingner, with whom she lived, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilda K. Moyer, of Hanover, in July of 1964.
