BROGUE- Dorothy June (Gemmill) Bacon, 81, left this world to be with Jesus Christ, her savior, on Sunday, March 25, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of Terry L. Bacon. The couple planned to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary on April 5th. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with her pastor, the Reverend David C. Reichelderfer officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born on June 2, 1936 in Stewartstown, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Seitz) Gemmill. Dorothy was a farmer’s wife, known for her exceptional cooking, canning and baking, especially pies. She worked 22 years at Zell Brothers in Red Lion. Mrs. Bacon was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.Previously she was a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. Dorothy loved birds, flowers and the Hallmark Channel. She had a generous heart and loved her family tremendously. Along with her husband, Terry, Dorothy is survived by six children, Randal Amberman and wife, Chris of New Mexico, Cathy Alder and husband, Bill of West Virginia, Karen Gross and husband, Ken of Felton, Lori Topper of York, Cheri Reed and husband, John of Brogue and Eric Bacon and wife, Sally of Brogue; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; four siblings, Lloyd A. Gemmill, Helen E. Winehold, and husband, Edwin, Doris M. Covell and Glen E. Gemmill. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Preston C. Gemmill, Phyliss I. Brinkman, Evans R. Gemmill and an infant sister, Ethel Gemmill Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Rd., Airville, PA 17302.
