RED LION- Dorothy I. (Ebersole) Brodbeck, 99, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Brethren Home Village at Cross Keys. She was the wife of the late George B. Brodbeck and Ludwig F. Duncker. A service will be held at 1:30p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Chapel United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd. in Red Lion, with a viewing from 1-1:30 p.m. The Reverend Brett A. Kindig, her great nephew and The Reverend Robert A. Vizthum will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Brodbeck was born in York on July 3, 1915, the daughter of the late Roy E. and Mary F. (Snell) Ebersole. She retired in 1987 after 28 years of service from the former Stein Florist and previously worked for American New York Wire and Cloth. Mrs. Brodbeck was a life-time member of Chapel United Methodist Church and their Sunday School. She was a 1933 graduate of William Penn High School. She enjoyed traveling and going to Hershey Bears games. She ran a fruit and vegetable roadside stand (Duncker’s Stand) for 15 years. Besides growing her own fruits and vegetables for the stand she also raised chickens and sold their eggs. She was recently honored along with a group of individuals who would have celebrated their 100th birthdays in 2015 at the Brethren Home. Mrs. Brodbeck leaves two step sons, Wayne Brodbeck of York and George Brodbeck of Wellsboro; a step daughter, Jane Minnick of York and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, R. Richard, and Steward Ebersole; a sister, Ethel Kindig, as well as a step daughter, Kathryn Ehrhart.
