Dorothy (Heist) Ney

YORK- Dorothy H. Ney, 89, formerly of Wernersville, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at her home at Normandie Ridge in York where she resided for the past 4 years. She was the wife of the late Harold C. Ney, who passed away in 1993. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. The Reverend Eddie D.D. Miller will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Sinking Springs. Born in Blandon, she was the daughter of the late Estella (Kline) Heist and Earl Heist. Her father was an engineer who was involved in the building of the Reading Airport and Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. She worked in a Defense plant while her husband served in the Pacific during WWII, and continued to work in retailing at the Children's Store and Boscov's in Sinking Springs. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Jeffrey S. Ney of Dover, Gregory L. Ney of Mountville and Sharon Ney Kirkley of Baltimore; four grandchildren, Laurie Silfies of Pittsburgh, Tara Smith of Bethlehem, Matthew Kirkley of Chicago and Jessica Bair of Baltimore; and two great grandchildren, Tyler & Brittany Smith of Bethlehem and a sister, Darlene Dunlop of Springhill, FL. Donations to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403 are requested in lieu of flowers.
