Dorothy Faye (Hagens) Barefoot

YORK- Dorothy Faye (Hagens) Barefoot, 83, passed into the arms of Jesus, Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late William E. Barefoot, who passed away on January 8, 2010. The couple had been married 59 years. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at York Alliance Church, 501 Rathton Rd., York, with her pastors, Reverend Timothy L. Shuey and Reverend Allen J. Lingenfelter officiating. Viewings will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on August 3, 1928 in Colver, she was a daughter of the late Clyde D. and Margaret C. (Makin) Hagens. Dorothy worked as a LPN for Dr. Morton Langer, Quality Care Nursing and Memorial Hospital, where she retired from. Mrs. Barefoot was a member of York Alliance Church for over 58 years where she served as WMPF President and Christian Women’s Club Host. She also was a Counselor and Nurse for Summit Grove Camp and Liberty Bible Camp. Dorothy was a member of Keystone Amateur Radio Club of York, call N3LTZ, and the Heart Zipper Club. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader. Mrs. Barefoot is survived by a son, Timothy W. Barefoot and his wife, Sandi of Dover; a daughter, Penny L Espenshade of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Graham of Ebensburg, Nancy Bumford of Colver and Randie Jones of Anderson, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Hagens, Eugene Hagens, Fred Hagens, Floyd Hagens and Bernard Hagens; and a sister, Grace Holton.
