MILTON - Dorothy E. (Lawrence) Longenberger, 89, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her home. She was born in Milton on December 22, 1923, and was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Horne) Lawrence. Dorothy married Henry W. Longenberger on February 26, 1944 and they celebrated 51 years of marriage until his death on May 2, 1995. She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church since 1935, a 50-year member of the Woman’s Club of Milton, a volunteer for 30 years with Meals on Wheels where she was an original member, a member of the American Legion Post #71 Ladies Auxiliary and the Milton Historical Society. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed her family and friends and was “the mother of their boys” Dorothy is survived by two sons, and one daughter-in-law; Henry W. and Luisa Lilian Longenberger of Lancaster and Michael E. Longenberger of Milton, one daughter in law; Kathy J. Longenberger of Milton, four grandchildren; Stephanie Longenberger and companion Israel DeJesus of Lancaster, Renee and husband Arthur Caputo of Olean, NY, Matthew and wife Nicole Longenberger of Milton and Mason and wife Rose Longenberger of New Columbia, three great-grandchildren; Tyler Sokolas of Milton, Mariana DeJesus of Lancaster and Gabriel Longenberger of Olean, NY, one brother; Harold W. Lawrence of Elysburg, one sister; Evelyn V. DeWire of Milton along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by, one son; Harold J. Longenberger, one daughter-in-law; Margie A. Longenberger, one grandson; Shane Longenberger, one great-grandson; Nicholas Henry DeJesus, two brothers; Malcolm J. Lawrence and Donald W. Lawrence A public viewing will take place 10:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 with The Pastor Kathleen Ehrsam officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Milton Historical Society, P.O. Box 5 Milton PA 17847.
