Dorothy E. (Horning) Roach

YORK- Dorothy E. “Dottie” (Horning) Roach, 86, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Reverend Kevin T. Shively officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born on May 23, 1927 in Steelton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Margie (Frick) Horning. Dottie was employed at York Casket Co for 16 years, she was also a cook at Jim's Drive In, and worked many years for Brickers French Fries, a job she loved and lived for. Dottie enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with her grandchildren and loved to cook and bake for her family. She loved to shop and spend time with her good friend Ruth. Dottie is survived by two daughters, Karen Altland and her husband, Steve of Hanover and Tina Bollinger of York; nine grandchildren, Kris Gable and his wife, Holly, Keith Gable, Kasie Altland, Missy Gable, Kaitlyn Altland, Stacey Jones and her husband, Mark, Barb Noll, Bobbie Sue Hennegan and her husband, Dave and Corey Foder and her husband, Julian; 19 great-grandchildren, Josie, Christopher, Timothy, Johnathan, Krista, Zachary, Joshua, Samuel, Elizabeth, Naomi, Victoria, Cynthia, Alexis G., Nicholas, Alexis F., Jadon, Jacob, Keith Jr., Mandy, Derich and Isabelle; and two great-great-grandchildren, Rylan and Alexander. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Eckenrode and Robert Eckenrode; three brothers, Lloyd Horning Jr., Richard Horning and Gerald Horning; and three sisters, Betty Sanders, Myrna Pressel and Doloris Snyder.
