Dorothy "Dottie" M. Ignozzi

Dorothy “Dottie” Ignozzi passed away on August 25, 2021 at her home in Airville, PA. She was 90 years young. She was the daughter of Martha Neville Mosser and Edgar Mosser of Huntingdon, PA. A native to Huntingdon, Dottie attended Huntingdon High School before graduating from Juniata College in 1952 with her degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, Dottie worked for the Huntingdon District Attorney before meeting her future husband. Dottie married George C. Ignozzi on February 12, 1956 and moved to Baltimore, MD where she became a stay at home mom, raising her two children, Cami and Michael. Dottie then continued her professional career as an executive secretary at Westinghouse Corporation, retiring in 1991. Founder of the Maryland Dressage Association, Dottie was a skilled equestrian, who often attended and competed in horse shows. She had a love of dogs and bred prize-winning German Shorthaired Pointers, frequently boasting about Heidi, the family dog. Dottie was always rescuing animals, some of which she found and some of which found her. She was an avid reader, a love she fondly passed on to both her children and grandchildren. Dottie would also spend hours tending to the numerous beautiful gardens on her farm and would always have fresh cut flowers in the house. Dottie is survived by her two children: her daughter, Cami Smith of Felton and her husband Jack, and her son, Michael Ignozzi of Brogue and his wife Abby. She also leaves behind two grandchildren: her grandson, Jack Smith of Manheim and his wife, Marty Lou, and her granddaughter Marti Farrell of Lancaster and her husband Clayton; as well as her two great grandchildren, Helen and Ian. She was preceded in death by her husband George C. Ignozzi. Dottie will forever be remembered in the hearts of her loved ones through the look of a beautiful flower, the smell of a holiday meal, and the warm cuddles of an adopted pet as a strong, kind-hearted, compassionate woman who loved her family dearly. The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to your local Animal Shelter. CLICK HERE TO SEND FLOWERS
