Dorothy A. 'Dot' (Updegraff) Hartman

YORK- Dorothy A. “Dot” (Updegraff) Hartman, 90, passed away peacefully at 2:15 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Manor Care North. She was the loving wife of Jay J. Hartman, to whom she was married for 62 years on June 17. A celebration of life tribute service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Sara Gausmann of Saint Paul Lutheran Church officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born on October 2, 1921 in Newberrytown, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Ralph and Sarah E. (Spangler) Updegraff. She moved from Newberrytown to Manchester in January of 1936. After attending Manchester High School, she worked at American Wire Fabrics Corporation in Mt. Wolf. Mrs. Hartman was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Manchester, until they merged with the United Methodist Church. She was a devoted Christian all her life and eventually became a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Along with her husband, Jay, Dorothy is survived by one brother, Raymond Updegraff of York; one sister, Vivian Hauer of Newark, De; six nieces and nephews, Dirinda Minnich, Elizabeth Baker, John H. Updegraff, Jr., Steven M. Hauer, Jody Hinkle and Katharine Fullerton; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Updegraff and Edwin Updegraff.
