Dororthy Jean (Mccarthy) Schwartz

DOVER- Dorothy Jean (McCarthy) Schwartz, 80, died on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Providence Place. She was the wife of the late Dallas Sheeder, the late Robert E. Schwartz who died in February of 1994 and long time companion of the late Donald Chiolo who died in April of 2013. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at IOOF Cemetery in Broad Top City, PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on December 31, 1936 in Robertsdale, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Leo and Mareta Alma (Rutter) McCarthy. Dorothy was a secretary at the York City Police Department in the Detective Bureau from 1971-1996. Dottie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in York Dottie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being with her friends and family. Family was very important and she spent many hours working on her family genealogy. Dottie was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists. Dottie is survived by one daughter, Cheryl L. Sheeder (Mariefiel) of York; one niece, Deborah Weikert (Richard) of Huntingdon; one nephew, Ronald Shehan of Huntingdon; one step nephew, Larry Ross (Dianna) of Akron, PA; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Shehan; and one brother, Robert McCarthy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
