Doris V. (White) Vannoy

TROY- Doris V. (White) VanNoy, 91. Of East Troy, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 9, 2013 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Jacob R. VanNoy. The couple married February 21, 1947 and had 58 wonderful years together. Family and friends are welcome to call from 3:00-4:00 pm on Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The memorial service to honor Doris’s life will be held after the visitation at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 21st at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. Joseph Alkire. Burial will be private at the convenience of Doris’s family in Glenwood Cemetery. Doris was born on February 21, 1922 in Sayre, PA, daughter of the late Arthur H. and Kittie L. (Walborn) White. She was a 1940 graduate of Towanda High School and for many years was the local tax collector. Doris attended Grace Community Church in Columbia Cross Roads, PA. She had a true servant’s heart. She spent much of her free time caring for others in the community. Many people received the blessing of her kindness and compassion. Doris enjoyed traveling with her family, square dancing with her husband Jake in the Grand Paraders Square Dancing group, and reading. She also enjoyed bird watching, working on cross-word puzzles, and playing Scrabble with her family. To Doris family was everything. Her family that survive her include her sons; Gary A. (Bonnie Jo) VanNoy of Charleston, MO, and Jacob L. (Kathryn Begley) VanNoy of Hollis, NH, her daughters; Sharon (Fred) Miller of Athens, PA, and Becky (Ron) Craig of East Troy, PA, along with many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jake, and her brother Harold White.
