GAITHERSBURG, MD- Doris May (Kehr) Vogelsong, 92, formerly of York, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at her residence at Apartment 516 Kindley, 333 Russell Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. She was the wife of the late James Howard Vogelsong, who died on January 8, 2015. The couple had been married for 67 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Victoria Krouse officiating. A viewing will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lyndon Diner in York, PA. Born on January 29, 1926 in York, she was a daughter of the late Erney C. and Bertha A. (Shue) Kehr. Doris was a 1944 graduate of William Penn Sr. High School in York, PA. Doris was a homemaker whose primary focus was cooking and caring for her family. She and her husband moved from Allentown, PA to Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg in 2013. Mrs. Vogelsong enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and was very active in sports including swimming, volleyball and ping pong. Doris especially enjoyed summer trips to Bethany Beach, DE with family. Doris was very kind, giving and selfless, always wanting to care for others. Most importantly, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Vogelsong is survived by her son, Thomas Lee Vogelsong of San Ramon, CA; four grandchildren, Matthew Francis Duncan and wife, Adrienne, Andrea Duncan Lauber and husband, Christopher, Melissa Ann Vogelsong and Michael James Vogelsong; four great grandchildren, Nyomi Eve Duncan, Zoe Isla Duncan, Abram Wallace Lauber and Eden Louise Lauber; and son in law, Wallace Cutting Duncan of Derwood, MD. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Louise Vogelsong (Duncan); three sisters, Gladys “Gladie”, Mary, and Louise “Weasie” ; and four brothers, Clayton, Harvey, Christian “Kissie” and Willard “Willie”.
