TROY- Doris Marie (Davis) Winters, 78, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Winters who passed away in 1990. Cremation will take place with the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Burial will take place in Columbia Valley Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Doris was born on April 26, 1928 in Austinville, PA. She was the daughter of the late Lorenzo W. and Sybil (Sanders) Davis. In 1945 Doris graduated from Troy High School and went to work as a clerk for Chuck May at the May Insurance Company in Troy, PA. She later went on to clerk for the Pendleton Insurance Company in Elmira, NY, from where she retired. Doris was a member of the Austinville Union Church in Austinville, PA. Doris loved her family. They include her son Thomas (Terri) Winters of Beaumont, TX, her daughter Gale (Joe) Bryner of Wyomissing, PA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Don (Marge) Winters of Irvine, CA, and four sisters-in-law: Janice (Ron) McInroy of Anaheim, CA, Marie Teeter of Newfield, NY, Annice (Norman) Griswold of Pine Valley, NY, and Virginia (EJ) Smith of Elmira Heights, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Her husband and parents, and also her brother, Glenn Davis, who passed away in 1990, preceded Doris in death. Doris's family has asked that her friends take a moment and remember her in their own way. Contributions may be made in Doris's memory to the Austinville Union Church, RR1 Box 368 Troy, PA 16947 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718
