Doris L. (Schmidt) Malia

HANOVER TOWNSHIP-Doris L. (Schmidt) Malia, 80, of Lee Park, passed away January 3, 2010, at Hampton House, Hanover Township. She was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Tillman) Schmidt. Doris worked as a nurse's aid at Mercy Hospital for 25 years before retiring in 1994. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Kenneth Malia; son, William Malia; infant daughter, Dorothy May; brother, William Schmidt. Doris is survived by sons, Dr. Kenneth Malia, Nanticoke; Robert Malia, Hanover Township; and Thomas Malia, Hanover Township; daughter, Doris Pahler, Wilkes-Barre; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend James E. McGahagan will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Harding.
