ELMIRA- Doris L. “Judy” (Taber) Warner, 87, of the Paul Reynolds Apartments in Troy, PA passed away the morning of Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Allen V. Warner who passed away in 1993. The couple married in 1944 and had 49 happy years together. Judy was born on June 2, 1924 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Bartholomew) Taber. She was the youngest of their five children. Judy was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1943, and later worked for the Ben Franklin Store until her retirement in 1994 after 29 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Troy Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, was a member of the Wheel Inn, and attended the Springfield Baptist Church. When Allen was still living they would spend weekends camping. They enjoyed spending Saturday nights dancing with friends. In their younger years they spent a lot of time riding motorcycle. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved playing cards with her many friends, and enjoyed taking bus trips with them. She will be greatly missed by all. Judy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alana and Walt Dewey and her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lenora Warner, all of Troy, her grandchildren: Jim (Cindy) Dewey, Angie (Kyle) Smith, both of Troy, Ryan (Nikki) Schrader of Canton, Nick Tedesco of Columbia Cross Roads, her great grandchildren: Vance and Macie Spencer, Hayden Dewey, Addie Smith, Kayla, Kendall, Karissa, and Gavin Shedden, and Alex. Zach, and Brandon Schrader, her sisters-in-law: Dorothy Murray, Jean (Alfred) Zyga, and nieces: Barb Wilmot, Pat Beebe, Jeanne Jo Ball, and Gail Williams. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen, her infant son Frank in 1949, her granddaughter Wendi (Warner) Tedesco, her brothers: Leroy, Cliff, Francis, and Franklin “Hank” Taber, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Victor Warner and Beatrice Warner Wolfe and step father-in-law Walter Wolfe, her nephew Tom Taber, her niece Carol Cornacchio, and her brother-in-law George Murray. Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00-3:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The Memorial Service to honor Judy’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 23rd at the Funeral Home with her pastor, Rev. Daniel Graham officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of Judy’s family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to the Troy Fire Company, Box 152, Troy, PA 16947 or to the Springfield Baptist Church, 3093 Springfield Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA 16914.
