Doris E. (Warner) Sponsler

York—Doris E. (Warner) Sponsler, 82, passed away, Saturday, March 20, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Joel E. Sponsler. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 10, 2009. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave, York, with her pastor, the Rev. Ron Oelrich, and family friend, the Rev. Jan Lookingbill, officiating. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born April 7, 1927 in Red Lion, she was a daughter of the late Vernon T., and Grace A. (Roseman) Warner. She retired from the Department of Defense in 1987 after 23 ½ years of federal service. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1944, was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in York, Young Faith Sunday School Class, West Manchester Mall walkers, National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees and Met-Ed Retirees Assoc. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sponsler is also survived by one son, Robert J. Sponsler and wife, Michelle, of Jacksonville, Fla, one daughter, Linda K. Cassel and husband, Edward, of Bethlehem, two granddaughters, Jennifer Dunne and husband, Brian and Julie Bailey and husband, Scott, three great granddaughters, 2 great grandsons, one sister, E. Elaine Lippy of Spring Grove and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Terrielea Shaffer and Diane Drinnan.
