Doris E. (Haines) Stevens

YORK – Doris E. (Haines) Stevens, 96, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 19, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late George R. Stevens.

Born August 21, 1926 in Petersburg, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Frank S. and Leora H. (Leaper) Haines. Mrs. Stevens was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Nursing School class of 1948, and worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Mrs. Stevens was also a member of the Jefferson Alumni Nurses Association for many years. In her free time, Mrs. Stevens loved gardening, bird watching, and baking. She will always be remembered for her servant’s heart, her willingness to help those who needed it, and being a friend to anyone she met.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Myers and her husband Steven; two grandchildren, Rose Maksin and her husband Mike, and Matthew Leder and his girlfriend Valery Notaro; two step grandchildren, Kelly McMillan and her husband Jarrid, and Todd Myers and his wife Abby; Nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; her nieces, and a nephew. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stevens is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn L. Leder; and two sisters, Betty Shepp, and Marjorie Fowler.

All Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
