RED LION- Doris (Dunlap) Sanders, 88, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late Harry C. Sanders. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street in Dallastown, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Her son, The Reverend Philip A. Sanders will be officiating at the Mass. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be held in Red Lion Cemetery. Mrs. Sanders was born in Staufferstown, Franklin County on April 19, 1926, the daughter of the late Walter Reed and Hazel C. (Talbert) Dunlap. She retired in 1987 after 29 years of service as a Registered Nurse at the Red Lion Elementary Schools. Mrs. Sanders was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown, a 1944 graduate of Chamberstown High School, and a 1948 graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing. She was also a member of the Cadet Nurses Corps. during WWII. Mrs. Sanders leaves a daughter, Jayne E. Thomas and her husband Mark of York; two sons, Michael C. Sanders and his wife Gretchen of Bristol, VA, and Reverend Philip A. Sanders of Bayonne, NJ; two grandchildren, Sarah DeVincenzo and her husband Michael of Telford, PA and Steven Thomas and his wife Amanda of Lancaster; and two great grandchildren, Lydia and Carter Thomas. A brother, Donald F. Dunlap and a sister, Jane Dunlap had preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313.
