Doris Beth (Bandes) Shapiro

FORT LEE, NJ - Doris Beth (Bandes) Shapiro, 85, formerly of Williamsport, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Prospect Heights Care Center, Hackensack, New Jersey. She was born on October 18, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (Laskoff) Bandes. She graduated from Bayside High School in Brooklyn, New York. Doris is survived by one son; Steven Shapiro of Bradenton, FL and four grandchildren; Laura Shapiro, Jennifer Dziurzynski, Marissa Gerson and Jillian Gerson. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter; Amy Gerson and her former husband; Mike Shapiro. The funeral service for Doris will take place 11:00 a.m., Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport with spiritual leader Rabbi Joel Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Williamsport. In keeping with Jewish tradition there will be no viewing or flowers.
