Doretta L. (Stambaugh) Dubbs

YORK - Doretta L. (Stambaugh) Dubbs, 97, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Manor Care - North. She was the wife of the late Earl E. Dubbs to whom she was married for 63 years. She met her husband at Forest Park Skating Ring in Hanover and enjoyed skating together for many years after. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, August 4, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with Mr. John Grove officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Sunday and 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born November 26, 1910 in Abbottstown, a daughter of the late Harry S. and Anna Mary (Lines) Stambaugh, as a young adult she had worked at the Webster Eisenlohr Cigar Factory, Inc. in York. Mrs. Dubbs was a member of the Reliance Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, York Organ Club, and had attended St. Stephens UCC. She enjoyed going on bus trips to Atlantic City, crocheting, gardening, and helping her neighbors. She also loved cats, especially her "Fluffy." Mrs. Dubbs is survived by a son, Donald E. Dubbs of West York; two daughters, Pearl L. and husband Stewart L. Platts of York and Janet L. and husband Phillip Brooks of Sarasota, FL; three sisters, Thelma Ribikauskas and Beatrice "Dolly" Himmelright both of York, and Relda Geesey of Dallastown; seven grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Dubbs; six brothers, Charles, Edward, Russell, Kenneth, Herbert, and Thomas Stambaugh; three sisters, Madeline Fair, Ethel Gross, and Miriam Stambaugh. The family requests no flowers and would like memorial contributions made to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17403 or to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871. A special thank you to all the nurses and staff for all the great care and love she received over the past eight years at Manor Care - North.
