Donna M Rawhouser

Donna Maxine (Amsbaugh) Rawhouser passed on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 93. Born & raised in York, Donna spent most of her life living within a few blocks of her family home on W. Philadelphia St. She graduated from York High School in 1942, and went on to work at H. M. Rehmeyer department store. In June of 1949, she married Robert N. Rawhouser and they spent 53 happy years together raising their family. Those who remember her know that family was central to Donna’s life. She took immense joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a joy often shown through cooking. A long-time member of St. Matt’s Lutheran Church, Donna put her passions to work for others as a pre-school teacher and kitchen volunteer. She spent the final years of her life comfortable in her home, cared for by daughter, Amy, and grandson, Rich. Donna was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings, Theda (Amsbaugh) Stare, Morgan Amsbaugh, and L. Thomas Amsbaugh. Donna is survived by her children, Robert G. Rawhouser and spouse Donna J. Rawhouser, R. Rene Rawhouser and spouse Lynn Rawhouser, Amy S. Rawhouser and partner Robert Shoup, and Ross N. Rawhouser and partner Pam Garetty; as well as her 7 grandchildren and their families. A memorial service to honor Donna’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with a reception to follow in the church’s Gathering Place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Backpack Task Force at St. Matthew, 839 W.
