WILKES-BARRE-Donna E. Barnes, 57, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at her home. Born January 30, 1953, Donna was a daughter of Reverend Robert A. Barnes and the late Arlene Wynn Gregory. She graduated from GAR High School and received her Paralegal certification through Penn State. Donna also participated in Leadership Wilkes-Barre and various other leadership activities. She was formerly employed with Legal Services of NEPA as a PA State Ombudsman and Pro Bono Coordinator. She was currently employed by Luzerne County Children and Youth as a Paralegal A Law. Donna was a member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church. In addition to her mother, Arlene Wynn Gregory, she was preceded in death by a niece, Sabrina Cordy. Surviving are her father, Reverend Robert A. Barnes, Middletown, NY; daughters, Nicol and husband John P. Anderson, Warrior Run; and Rachael Wasilewski, Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Johnny Anderson, Symone Muchler, Alexander Muchler, and Sheyanne Anderson; sisters, Cynthia Barnes Howard, Allentown; Bonny Barnes-Szklanny, Wilkes-Barre; Audrey Bailey, Wilkes-Barre; Jill Johnson, Wilkes-Barre; Licia Gregory, Wilkes-Barre; Constance Parker, NJ and Trudy Barnes, Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Brian Parker, Wilkes-Barre; and Kevin Parker, Harrisburg; Robert Barnes, Jr.; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, there will not be a public viewing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, 774 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a graveside service at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. The Reverend Wallace Smith will be officiating. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangments are being handled by Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Covenant Christian Fellow Church or the Lupus Foundation, 615 Jefferson Ave., Suite 102, Scranton, PA 18510.
