Donald W. Rayburn

RED LION- Donald W. Rayburn, 69, died Friday, September 26, 2008 at The University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Hoskin) Rayburn to whom he was married to for 47 years. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:00-6:30 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Salem United Church of Christ, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus. The gathering will be followed by a service from 6:30-7:00 PM with Rev. Fred A. Walthour officiating. Mr. Rayburn was born November 30, 1938 in Windsor, a son of the late Woodrow and Ruth (Smith) Rayburn. He retired in 1997 from Fincor, where he worked as Manager of the Quality Control and the Test department. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and member of the Dallastown American Legion. Above all else Mr. Rayburn enjoyed sharing his expertise in woodworking, gardening, home improvement and repair, with friends and family. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rayburn is survived by two sons, D. Thomas Rayburn of York and John E. Rayburn of Red Lion; two daughters, Cathy S. Lehman-Mallquist of York and Lisa J. Crumling of Hellam; eight grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Smeltzer, Betsy Goss, Jennifer Beard, Jake Crumling, Scott, Estelle, and Christopher Rayburn; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Russell Rayburn; two sisters, Rodessa Keesey and Janet Warner; a sister- in- law, Norma J. and husband Ed Eckard; a sister-in-law, Donna Rayburn; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rayburn is preceded in death by a brother, Jim Rayburn. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave. Suite 208, York, PA 17401.
