Donald S. Smith

RED LION- Donald S. Smith, 95, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at Promedica York, South. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Workinger) Smith. Private burial will take place in New Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery in Brogue. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mr. Smith was born in York on September 22, 1926, the son of the late Spurgeon C. and Mary I. (Crawford) Smith. He was the owner and operator of Spurgeon Smith & Sons Butcher Shop formerly of Red Lion. Mr. Smith was a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Brogue. He enjoyed spending time at his vacation homes over the years in Ocean City and loved his pet dogs. Mr. Smith leaves four sons, Victor D. Smith and his wife Maureen of Sun City West, AZ, Philip R. Smith, David B. Smith and his wife Kelly of Hanover, and Edmund C. Smith and his wife Lindsay of Salisbury, MD; a daughter, Suzette V. Smith and her husband Stephen Maisch of Red Lion; eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Smith.
