Donald R. Fritz

YORK - Donald R. Fritz, 89, of Springettsbury Twp., died at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Country Meadows at Leader Heights. He was the husband of Kathryn E. (Staley) Fritz to whom he was married for 60 years. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fritz was born February 2, 1918, in Allentown. He was the son of the late Harry and Wilhelmina Fritz. Following the death of his mother he was also raised by his stepmother the late Della Fritz. He was a US Army veteran of World War II serving with Company "B" of the 502nd Parachute Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. He retired as a technical illustrator after many years with the former Naval Ordinance Plant in York. Following his retirement he divided much of his time between York and his second homes at the beaches of both Ocean City, MD and the Outer Banks. He enjoyed his time at the beach and especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends there. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fritz leaves seven nieces and nephews; twelve great nieces and nephews; and seven great-great nieces and nephews. A brother, Woodrow Fritz preceded him in death.
