York-Donald N. Knipple "Nip", 77, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Hershey Medical Center. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with The Rev. Elmer W.V. Scofield officiating. Viewings will he held from 7-9:00 PM Friday and 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born April 9, 1933 in York, son of the late Morris L. and Dorothy A. (Keiholtz) Knipple, \"Nip\" worked at Met-Ed for 30 plus years as a lineman and later in construction and maintenance until his retirement. He was a 1952 graduate of West York High School and a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War. A member of St. Stephen\'s United Church of Christ in York, he was also a member of the Free & Accepted Mason\'s-York Lodge 266, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, White Rose Scottish Rite Club-Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon-York Forest, West York V.F.W., Shiloh American Legion, U.S.S. Intrepid Association, 13th Ward Club, Rooster Club, National Rifle Association, East Fork Sportsman\'s Club, Austin-Costello Sportsman\'s Club, and York County Green Acres Hunting Club of Potter County. Mr. Knipple is survived by two sons, Daniel L. and wife Micki of Hampton, VA and David M. and wife Kim of San Diego, CA, one daughter, Debra A. Golden and husband Pat of Bellingham, WA, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one sister, Arlene E. Grumbine of Melbourne Beach, FL and a neice. He also leaves behind numerous close aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as very special friend Susan Rowland of West York. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Earl Knipple. Donnie had a genuine love of the outdoors, especially hunting. He also enjoyed traveling, whereby casual acquaintances frequently became long-term friends. With his skills as a carpenter and tradesman, \"Nip\" was known to readily avail himself to help others.
