Wellsburg, NY - Donald M. Walmsley, Age 74, of16181 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA passed away Friday August 21, 2009 at home. Donald was born October 22, 1934 in Towanda, PA son of the late Vernor L. and Alma M. (Smith) Walmsley. He was first employed as a milkman delivering milk and later at the A&P Plant in the sanitation department. He also drove school bus for Chambers Bus Service serving the Athens School District. Donald was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan, enjoyed bowling, painting and loved to play cards especially "500". He was a devoted family man who also donated to the Christian Family Network sponsoring children in Somalia. Survivors include his sons, Dana (Gretchen) Walmsley of Caton, NY, Dale (Ellen) Walmsley of Centerville, PA, daughters, Rene' (Todd) Burley of Elmira, NY, Debbie Walker of Lowman, NY, brothers, George (Alice) Walmsley of Bentley Creek, PA, Vernor Walmsley of Centerville, PA, sisters, Alma Stroud of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Laura (David) Cooley of LeRaysville, PA, Mary (Paul) Novotny of Centerville, PA, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was predeceased by his parents, a grandson Benjamin Walmsley and brother-in-law Joseph Stroud. Family and friends are invited to call from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. His funeral will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1:00 PM with Pastor Andy Phillips of the Berrytown Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Towanda, PA.
