Donald M. Kitchen

Lock Haven - Donald M. Kitchen, 83 of Blanchard died at the Lock Haven Extended Care Unit surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, August 2, 2007. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as the "Man of the Mountain." Don was born on August 10, 1923 in Beech Creek the son of the late Uriah & Della (Mann) Kitchen. He attended Blanchard Church of Christ, worked as a welder for the former Piper Aircraft and also at the Chevrolet plant in Tonowanda, N.Y. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion, life member of the Howard V.F.W. and a member of the Masonic Lodge #199. Williamsport Consistory. He was also a Boy Scout Leader in Beech Creek and was an avid hunter,fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp. Do was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years the former Betty J. Hevner Kitchen in February of 1999. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his Sons Donald L. Kitchen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Charles W. Kitchen of Beech Creek and Gary J. Kitchen of Blanchard. 6 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren also surviving are his loving bother Archie Kitchen of Topock, AZ sister Lillian Etters of Beech Creek numerous Nieces and Nephews and his loyal companion-his dog "Ranger" In accordance with his wishes there will be no calling hours or services. The family requests memorials to the Susquehanna Health System or Blanchard Church of Christ in his memory. Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall is in charge of arrangements.
